"Obama On Same-Sex Marriage"

Barack Obama in this short clip is talking about marriage, one very important subject in the
2008 Presidential Election. He explains how marriage is not only a civil "element" but a religious
one as well.  He explains how it is going to be very hard to change the way people view marriage,
either in a religious or civil standpoint. But even though he stands on the religious side of it,
because that is what he believes in, he states that there is no reason why the civil rights can
not be extended to men and women who love and want to marry someone of the same sex.
This is a great topic for class because it is a huge gender issue in our society today. Marrying
someone of the same sex is another thought of someone challenging gender norms.
