As a freshman at Temple, I have not yet found a third place here at school although there are many potential ones. At my hometown in Northeast Philadelphia, my third place was the local playground. Although my friends and I would try and get out of the neighborhood on weekends, we met about three times a week at the playground. A lot of times we didn’t even call each other, but would make do with who was there. We would play games like wall ball or basketball, exchange stories about school, or a mixture of both depending on how much people were there. I don’t have much special memories of the playground but I know it was important to me, because if my only social connection during the week was facebook, I may have gone insane.
