People often criticize my new interest in vegetarianism because they argue, “How can one person not eating meat make a difference?” It turns out, according to Nick Cooney’s presentation, that one vegetarian can save about 3,500 animals in a lifetime. About 40-50 animals are being saved a year by a vegetarian. There has been a strong increase in consumer responses to this fact, dramatically increasing the number of vegans and vegetarians in America. Five percent of the general population is now vegan or vegetarian, ten percent of 25-34 year olds, and eleven percent of teenage girls.
