Man on Wire

Explore the social, political and/or cultural semiotics of a hero figure.

1- Character from Man on Wire is/is not a hero.

3- Scenes Described/Analyzed as illustrations of points.

Hero- Philippe Petite
~ Wire Walker from France.
~ 1971, Philippe wire walked between the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
~ Chased dream to walk between the worlds tallest towers. Nothing could stop him.
~ No fear of death, felt it was admirable to die while performing your passion.
~ Flew to America countless times and back to France to study the towers and to practice his stunt and prepare.
~ Specifically practiced every detail of his mission. Practiced on Wire 200 ft long.(Distance from the top of one tower to the next.)
~ Waited three hours in hiding to preform his stunt. (Dedication and Drive)
~ Philippe and company secured the wire even after they fell behind schedule and Philippe did his famous wire walk between the twin towers entertaining thousands.
