Primary Sources: a comparison of Gilligan's Island and the current TV show Lost.
Secondary Sources: I have not yet picked any specific secondary sources, but I plan to do research on not only the television shows but also the themes they portray. Lost specifically has many complicated themes and underlying issues that I can research. Here are some I am working with--"Supernatural, Truth, and Fiction" by Mark Matlock, and "The Decline of Middlebrow Culture" from the New York times which may be a counter argument.
Thesis Statement: Because of it's highly developed themes and intellectual nature, Lost is an example of Johnson's Sleeper Curve, when compared to sitcoms of earlier days, specifically Gilligan's Island.
