Primary Texts: two videogames, Prince of Persia (1989) and Prince of Persia, The Two Thrones (2005)
Proposal: Using the Prince of Persia series, seen in its original form from 1989 and in the conclusion of its breakthrough hit reboot trilogy from 2005, I will show that today any given videogame is actually multiple games being played simultaneously. In the original DOS classic, the player plays a game of dungeon exploration and time management. In the newer series, the player plays an exploration game, as well as a fast-paced fantasy combat simulator, a platformer, a chariot racing game and an actual time manager, as in managing the flow of time itself, all in the same game.
