On Grizzly Man
Werner Herzog's Grizzly Man was a very emotional documentary. Timothy Treadwell, an extremely passionate animal activist, traveled to Alaska to become closer to nature's creatures. He felt as though he was one with the bears and foxes. Timothy devoted his life to the animals and talked to them just as though they were humans. At points throughout the movie, he would look in the bear's eyes and say that he saw human compassion. However, near the end of the documentary, it is clear to me that there is just a blank and hungry look in the bear's eyes. I feel as though Timothy saw something in these creatures that no one else could see. At a certain point when he was swearing at the camera about the government and how they were trying to track him down, you could sense the emotion and compassion he holds in his heart for the animals. I feel like Timothy took it too far when he was petting the bears. It was an extremely dangerous action, and his actions caused his death. A bear killed him and his girlfriend eventually. Timothy did say he would die for and with the animals, so his wish came true.
