Human/Non-Human Animals

After reading and thinking about the topic, it is hard for me to decide a distinct difference between human and non-human animals. Some of the most significant qualities of being human--the abilities to emote, protect, fear, dominate, survive, comprehend and, yes, reason and ration can be all shared by and demonstrated through non-human animals. We as human animals make the separation mostly due to physical appearances and some obvious physical limitations of which non-human animals experience, but when it comes down to it, we are all the same. As time progresses, I believe this distinction will be even more difficult to see because we, meaning human and non-human animals, are both capable of doing the same things. The one only difference humans have, I would say, is the investment in religion or a reverence for a higher being and the belief in an after life.
