In my opinion, the there are a few things that distinguish a human and a non-human animal. The thing sticks out in my mind the most is the ability to have desires and ambitions other than just basic survival. Maybe some non-human animals are capable of some accomplishments like learning a new trick and some may even be able to do extraordinary things like some of the animals on talk shows and things like that but the majority of animals cannot read, write, paint, or do all these other things that humans can. The ability to use a computer and successfully graduate from high school are things that help to distinguish humans and non-human animals. Also, although non-human animals may feel some emotions they do not fall in love and share a true companionship with the same species. Its really just about survival and mating with animals and emotions and ambitions do not go further than that.
