Human/Non-Human Animals
In my opinion (which is clearly what your looking for, not a groundbreaking philosophical astonishment) the relation between human and non-human animals is obviously a topic of controversy. Consciousness is key when evaluating each sides of the spectrum. As humans we're capable of doing good or bad because we have the sense of consciousness before and after our actions. Don't mind this loose explanation but as humans we understand what's good or bad and hey, if we proceed to do this good or bad, that's what makes it good or bad in the first place. Having a conscience grants us the mind power to reanalyze, reevaluate. and revitalize the action soon to be committed and its repercussions to follow. After the action is said and done we are then judged on a scale of morality from our peers and even within. Non-human animals lack this consciousness and therefore are unable to use reason in undergoing actions to be judged in a moral sense.
