Human/Non-Human Animals

I believe that what separates human animals from non-human animals is our dominance. Theoretically, humans are at the top of the food chain and that should make the other animals fearful. We basically have taken over the world and have the power to exterminate all other life forms, even ourselves, if we choose to do so. Humans are dangerous because of the kind of dominance we have. As it seems, the complexity of our thought, along with the beauty of our existence, has made our climb to the top inevitable. This is not to say that animals do not feel or think like we do, but we do it better. In fact, I believe that we do everything better. Humans dominate the social and biological spectrum, and that is what separates us.

Indeed, the human race is the dominant force in the universe in comparison to non-human animals who have been subject to the pleasures, curiosities, and wants of the human race. However, that does not necessarily separate humans from non-human animals. That only separates the two in terms of power, and the human race has proven to be more powerful for various reasons that I will not attempt to explain because they are not important in this matter. If you compare humans and non-human animals you can notice that the two are the same in the realization that they both have what Peter Singer has introduced as "equal interests", and therefore, according to singer, they should be considered equally. The problem is that the human race has failed to see their relationship with non-human animals in this light, and because of that they have deprived non-human animals of their interests in their dominance.
